Major Boyd Nutt is an Arkansas native. He was born in Hamburg, a small county seat town in south Arkansas. He was educated at Hamburg High School, the United States Coast Guard Academy, the University of Arkansas at Monticello and the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College. He was awarded the Wings of a Naval Aviator and holds the license of a commercial helicopter pilot and a fixed-wing airline transport pilot.
After retiring from the U. S. Marine Corps in 1991, he completed training as a registered Nurse and has worked in that position for the Veterans Administration and numerous Arkansas private hospitals. After returning to the United States in 2008, following a year of service as a commercial pilot in Mali, he founded Legend Treks, a non-profit public charity which conducts free eye clinics for underserved people groups in South America and Africa. Legend Treks also provides academic scholarships for girls in Mali.
Major Nutt lives in Rogers, Arkansas with his wife, Robbie. they have two children and six grandchildren.
